Holistic Yoga & The Art of Self -Care is a trauma informed sacred space where your body, breath, and soul are invited to soften, unwind, and remember what it feels like to be held, without pressure, without performance, and without judgment. Yoga is a practice I hold dear to my heart. It has been the foundational component to my healing journey for years. Each posture, each breath holds me like a prayer and the gratitude I feel when I honor myself in this way is renewing, restorative and liberating.
Holistic yoga offers a gentle, integrated and grounding pathway to reconnect with your body after trauma. Because trauma often lives in the nervous system and the body itself, this practice provides a safe space for stillness, release, and re-inhabiting one's physical self without force or pressure. My classes are rooted in the principles and practice of functional movement, alignment, symmetry, self-awareness, mindfulness, introspection, meditation, restoration, self-care and nervous system regulation. I invite my students to participate in their own unique self-discovery journey with an open mind and an open heart. The loving act of coming home to yourself through this practice can have profound benefits to your health and well-being if you are consistent and open to learning something new about yourself.
Holistic yoga offers supported postures, mindful breathing, and the use of props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks, chairs and wall space, which allows the body to soften, feel supported and safe, while the mind learns to settle. Functional yoga helps regulate the nervous system, shifting from hypervigilance (fight or flight) or shutdown (freeze) into a more balanced and regulated state of calm and presence. Over time, this kind of nervous system support can improve emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and promote trust in the healing process. This practice isn't about pushing through, it’s about giving the body permission to feel safe, seen, and supported through gentle, functional and restorative movement.
Holistic yoga isn’t just for those recovering from trauma. It’s for anyone seeking a gentle, nurturing way to slow down and catch your breath. In today’s fast-paced world, our minds and bodies are often in overdrive. This practice invites you to pause, soften, and create space for deep integration, rest and renewal. With the support of props (as mentioned above) and intentional movement and stillness, functional yoga improves mobility, stability, soothes the nervous system, supports better sleep, improves focus, and cultivates a sense of inner calm. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, fatigued, or craving more peace in your life, this practice meets you where you are.
Holistic Yoga is more than a class, it’s a community. A refuge. A reset. A movement. A place to breathe deeply, lean in, feel supported, and reconnect to yourself. If you are ready to move gently, feel fully, release tension both physically and mentally, and nurture yourself from the inside out, this space is for you.
Come as you are. I'm honored to share this journey with you.
Namaste!
At first glance, yoga and somatic practices may look similar, slow, mindful movement, deep breathing, quiet reflection. But while they often overlap and beautifully complement one another, they each offer unique benefits in your healing journey.
Somatics is a body-based approach that focuses on your felt sense, how you experience sensations, emotions, and memories from within. Somatics helps you gently reconnect with your body’s wisdom, especially after trauma or chronic stress. Movements are intuitive and minimal, guided by internal awareness rather than external form. It’s about what you feel on the inside.
When we talk about “felt sense” in somatic work, we're talking about internal sensations and experiences. These include:
It’s the subjective, internal awareness of what’s happening inside your body, not what you're seeing or hearing, but what you're feeling from within.
The practice of somatics is about deepening your capacity to listen inward and develop a relationship with those inner signals. It’s how your body communicates with you, often before your thoughts catch up.
In a nutshell, somatics is the process of learning to listen to how your body talks to you. It’s about tuning into your inner world through sensation, movement, and awareness, noticing how emotions, experiences, and stress live in your body, and using that information to guide healing, connection, self-trust and self-honor.
Yoga, especially restorative and trauma-informed yoga, supports this process by offering a structured practice of breath, movement, and mindfulness. Rooted in ancient tradition, yoga helps bring balance to the nervous system, flexibility and mobility to the body, and clarity to the mind. In my classes, yoga becomes a vehicle for deeper presence, helping you regulate, rest, and return to yourself.
When combined, yoga and somatics create a powerful synergy: yoga offers the framework, somatics brings the feeling. Together, they create space to slow down, listen in, and heal from the inside out. This work isn’t just for those recovering from trauma, it’s for anyone who wants to feel more grounded, connected, and whole. Whether you’re rebuilding after burnout, navigating emotional overwhelm, or simply longing to feel more at home in your body, thispractice can help you find your way back home.
Holistic yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, guiding the body out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest mode. This promotes a deep sense of relaxation, allowing the body and mind to release tension and stress stored in the nervous system.
By calming the mind and reducing physical stress, Holsitic yoga can support better sleep patterns and deeper, more restorative rest. Regular practice may help ease insomnia and improve the body’s natural circadian rhythm.
Holistic yoga creates a safe and supportive environment where emotions can surface and be processed gently. As the body softens and the breath deepens, suppressed or unacknowledged feelings may rise to the surface, making space for healing and integration.
The stillness and spaciousness of Holistic yoga help you tune in to the subtle sensations and signals of your body. This heightened awareness fosters a deeper connection with yourself and strengthens your ability to listen to your body’s needs.
Consistent practice helps reduce the physiological effects of chronic stress, such as elevated cortisol, inflammation, and fatigue. It can serve as a powerful antidote to burnout, gently rebuilding resilience from the inside out.
Even though it’s a passive practice, Holistic yoga uses gentle stretching to support joint mobility and muscular release. Holding poses with props allows the body to open gradually, improving circulation and flexibility without strain.
When the nervous system is in a relaxed state, the body can redirect energy toward repair and immune function. Holistic yoga reduces stress hormones and inflammation, which supports a healthier immune response.
Holistic yoga invites stillness, presence, and inward reflection, creating a fertile space for spiritual awareness and insight. Many practitioners report a sense of connection to something greater, whether it’s inner wisdom, a sense of peace, or divine presence.
